The body was waxed and buffed, as was the fingerboard. The bass was disassembled and all the parts were cleaned. The back is in decent condition with a few small chips on the edge near the strap lock. The electronics are all original and the pots date to late 1974 to early 1975. There's a few light marks and one chip on the top. This bass is in very good condition and has light/average playwear for its age.

Matching the sound is the finish with this rarer burgundyglo finish that stands out against the chrome hardware. It has that big sustain and if you play with a pick you can really dig in and get this natural punchy tone but if you back off a bit you can still get perfectly clear sounds. All the top guys usually have one of these in their arsenal and after you play this one you will understand why. For me I love the sculpted low end and nothing can hit that treble attack like a nice old vintage Rickenbacker 4001. If you follow my auctions you know I jump on every vintage Ric I can get my hands on because I know as far as bass tone goes these 4001 are tough to beat.
